48 questions

So my friend Shireen stole, borrowed this idea from Emily who borrowed it from Zakary who borrowed it from someone else.  Who am I to break the cycle?  (After reading this, however, someone else needs to borrow it from me so I can feel like I’m part of the blogging circle of life, okay?)

Here’s what you never wanted to know about me.

1- WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?

No.  But my mom gave my name a weird spelling because she thought it looked more French.

2- WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?

Last night while watching a Beatles documentary.  What?  I’m PMSing right now and I’m emotionally fragile.

3- DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?

Not really.  In fourth grade I got a C+ in the subject and I’ve been taunted by my failure ever since.  (Yes, in my world C+ is failing.  It’s a harsh, harsh world.)

4- WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?

Lebanon bologna all the way.

5- DO YOU HAVE KIDS?

Yes, three.  (Can’t you tell by looking at my hips?)

6- IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON, WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?

Yes.  Because I crack myself up everyday, mostly by doing stupid things.

7- DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?

Yes, but not as much as I used when in my early twenties.  I’m mellowing. <snort.>

8- DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?

Yep.  I have all my original parts except for my gall bladder.  And wisdom teeth.

9-  WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?

Not if you paid me a million, trillion dollars.

10- WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL?

Cracklin’ Oat Bran.

11- DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF?

No, because that requires some anal-retentiveness beyond my ability to generate.  (And I generate a lot.)  Although in full disclosure I am more of a shoes without laces kind of gal.  In fuller disclosure, I mostly just wear socks.

12- DO YOU THINK YOU ARE STRONG?

Mentally- yes.  Emotionally- when not PMSing.  Physically- no way.

13- WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM?

Daiquiri Ice from Basket Robbins.  Followed by Peanut Butter and Chocolate.

14- WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?

If they are smiling.

15- RED OR PINK?

Ah geez, I’m not a fan of either (blues and greens all the way!).  But I’ll grudgingly take pink over red.  Although I try calling it mauve to make it sound less pink.

16- WHAT IS THE LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOURSELF?

My waist size.  Which is kind of cool, because one day when I get motivated I could do something about that.

17- WHO DO YOU MISS THE MOST?

My Dad.  Every single day.

18- WHAT IS THE TECHNIQUE THAT YOU NEED TO WORK ON THE MOST?

Folding fitted sheets.  And teaching long division without losing my patience.

19- WHAT COLOR SHOES ARE YOU WEARING?

I’m not wearing shoes, weren’t you paying attention?  But my socks are pink, mauve.

20- WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU ATE?

Mashed potatoes.  Because they are food for the gods.

21- WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?

My son erasing his wrong math answers while saying under his breath, “I hate fractions, I hate them.  My mom is so mean.”  as my oldest daughter is practicing the piano very loudly and my youngest is singing to herself.  This is why I’m mentally strong.  Because they haven’t driven me crazy yet.

22- IF YOU WERE A CRAYON, WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU BE?

Kelly green.  Because I love green and I loved that scene in Cheers when Woody sings that song he wrote for his girlfriend that only consists of her first name:  “Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly…”  Sadly I could find no Youtube clip of it for you.  And now my day is ruined.

23- FAVORITE SMELL?

Peonies blooming in the spring and the smell of someone cooking a steak on the grill.  Also, I really love the smell of almond extract.

24- HOW IMPORTANT ARE YOUR POLITICAL VIEWS TO YOU?

Moderately important, but not worth arguing about and losing a good friendship.  I can agree to disagree.

25- MOUNTAIN HIDEWAY OR BEACH HOUSE?

Mountain hideaway because they have no hurricanes.  But I’d like a friend to have a beach house so I could visit occasionally.  And when she has to evacuate during a hurricane, she can come to my mountain hideaway.  It’s a win-win.

26- FAVORITE SPORTS TO WATCH?

None, unless Michael Phelps is swimming.  Or if there’s Ice Dancing on.  Figure skating makes me too nervous for the skaters when they do big jumps and lifts.  No one does big lifts or jumps in Ice Dancing, so there’s no stress.

27- HAIR COLOR?

Dark brown/black with an increasingly large amounts of white hairs.  What’s up with my hair skipping the gray step and going straight to white while I’m in my (extremely late) 30’s?  I probably watched too much figure skating in my youth and all the pressure prematurely aged me.

28- EYE COLOR?

Blue.  (I’m recessive.)

29- DO YOU WEAR CONTACTS?

Been stoically poking myself in the eyes since ninth grade.  (Unless I’m sick and think there’s at least a .00032% chance I’ll have to go to the E.R.  Then I just stick with glasses.)

30- FAVORITE FOOD?

Popcorn.

31- SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS?

In my youth I watched scary movies, then I gained a sense of my own mortality and now it is only happy endings.

32- LAST MOVIE YOU WATCHED?

Tinkerbell’s The Secret of Wings.  Don’t judge me, I got sucked into it while my girls were watching because Timothy Dalton’s voice was hypnotically sexy.

33- WHAT COLOR SHIRT ARE YOU WEARING?

Kelly green!  (Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly…….)

34- SUMMER OR WINTER?

Spring.  (But if forced to choose between the two above I will take winter because I don’t like to sweat.  Ever.)

35- FAVORITE DESSERT?

The Italian gelato at the Carnival World Buffet in Las Vegas.  Also, their fruit and cream in edible chocolate bowls is divine.

36- STRENGTH TRAINING OR CARDIO?

Strength training, because there’s less heavy breathing and sweat.

37- COMPUTER OR TELEVISION?

This is like a terrible Sophie’s Choice.  Don’t make me do it.

38- WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING RIGHT NOW?

How Children Succeed by Paul Tough.  And it’s awesome.

39- WHAT’S ON YOUR MOUSE PAD?

The germs from my children sneezing a thousand times without covering their nose.  Gross, but true.

40- FAVORITE SOUND?

The sound of the garage door opening, telling me my husband’s home.  Your turn buddy!  Time for my union-mandated break.

41- FAVORITE GENRE OF MUSIC?

Almost anything except bluesy Jazz and the heavy metal that my husband loves.  But we have a happy marriage anyway.

42- WHAT IS THE FARTHEST YOU HAVE BEEN FROM HOME?

Sao Paulo, Brazil where I lived for a year and a half.

43- DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL TALENT?

I read faster than anyone I know.  Plus, I can ask if you want to know more about the Mormon church in Portuguese.  Why more people aren’t beating a path to my door for my special skills, I just don’t know.

44- WHERE WERE YOU BORN?

“Iowa, Iowa, land where the tall corn grows!”  (Sang it loud and proud until the fourth grade.)

45- WHERE ARE YOU LIVING NOW?

Indiana and I have no fancy song about that which makes me sad.

46- WHAT COLOR IS YOUR HOUSE?

The outside color is Mocha.  Which sounds much better than tan.

47- WHAT COLOR IS YOUR CAR?

I cruise around in a gray mini-van.  Incidentally, I prefer spelling gray with an ‘a’ and not an ‘e.’

48- DO YOU LIKE ANSWERING 48 QUESTIONS?

Of course, since I always like talking about myself.  Please don’t tell me that makes me self-centered.  The real question is did you like reading them.

What fun!! I might just be the one who steals this from you! I love learning nifty little tidbits about the other bloggers I follow to see what we have in common (other than children and all that craziness, of course!)

Another fellow Cracklin’ Oat Bran lover! We should have a party and make as many dishes as we can using it and eat and laugh. Deal?

Oh, you mean this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twLIeKP1_m8 (I couldn’t find a clip that wasn’t the obnoxious commercial, but still.)

  5. Did I like reading this? Of course I liked reading this! I see that Cracklin’ Oat Bran fans are uniting here! I’m in! Too many funny ones to comment on, but #21 — you are a strong woman, you. And #25, your logic makes total sense with me.

Really? Not even a million trillion dollars? I wouldn’t do it for $100. Probably not even $200. But a million trillion? Oh yeah.

    • bunkersdown says:

Really and truly I cannot be paid any amount to bungee jump. Or skydive. Now eating a bug, I could do that for $100 easily. Or I could ride a Ferris Wheel (scary, scary, scary) for $250.

  8. designhermomma says:

we match on so many of these answers, and we really need to hang out way more in 2013.
