Johnny Cash had it right.

I’d like to apologize gentle reader for my lack of blogging lately.  This kidney stone has got me all messed up and I find myself unable to sit for longer than ten minutes at a time.

My surgery is set for later this week, at which point the doctors will remove the offending stone and replace the stent that is draining my kidney for a new one.

Frankly, I’m not thrilled.  The stent hurts as much as any kidney stone and all the medication has caused a myriad of side effects.  Basically any time I have to go to the bathroom, I end up singing “Burning Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash.  It’s either that or cry.  (And sometimes, I’ll admit, I do both.)

Who knew kidneys were so stinkin’ important?  And so dang fragile?

But, with luck and some good doctoring, in nine days I will be up on my feet as good as new.  As good as new!

Until then just keep treasuring your excretory system and sending me those healing thoughts and prayers.
